Bryan S. McLarty DDS

Bryan Scott McLarty, a Texas native, grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is a second generation dentist. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1993 from Texas Tech University. He was accepted into dental school in 1997 at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. During dental school, Bryan accepted a scholarship from the United States Air Force Dental Corps and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the USAF Inactive Reserve. As a senior dental student, he was recognized for academic excellence by his Dental Fraternity, Delta Sigma Delta Dental and was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Undergraduate Prosthodontics award, sponsored by the American College of Prosthodontists.

Upon graduation of dental school in June of 2001, Captain Bryan McLarty attended Commissioned Officer Training at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. He received orders to pursue an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the home of the First Fighter Wing, Langley AFB in Hampton, Virginia. Upon completion of his residency in 2002,Captain McLarty requested and received orders to return to Texas and serve as a staff dentist with the Air Education and Training Command at the 17th Medical Group, Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. In March of 2003, he deployed to Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and served 4 months as Assistant Base Dental Surgeon ensuring every U.S. and Royal Air Force service member was able to perform their military duties without dental complication. During this deployment, the United States commenced the intense air campaign that led to the invasion of Iraq. Captain McLarty returned home safely and served his remaining commitment with the USAF and the dental clinic at Goodfellow AFB.

After fulfilling his service commitment and becoming a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in June of 2004 with commendation. Bryan, his wife Karen, and their three children decided to return to Lubbock, the community they’ve always loved. Dr. McLarty enjoys being a husband, father and spending time with his family. He also enjoys coaching youth athletics, especially football and baseball. Bryan has a passion for building and flying radio-controlled model aircraft. He is an active leader in the Wings Miniature Aircraft Society of Lubbock where he is the annual Contest Director for the West Texas Warbirds event.

Our Staff

Karen McLarty, RN, BSN

Karen works as the office appointment and patient coordinator. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Texas Tech Health Science Center, in Lubbock, TX, in 1993 and worked as a R.N. for Methodist Hospital in critical care nursing from 1992-1997. Later, she worked at Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton, Texas where she performed intensive care nursing from 1997-2001. She continues to hold her nursing license and we are fortunate to have her on our dental team. Karen’s training and experience makes her more than qualified to assist you with questions about concurrent health issues and coordinating dental treatment concerns with other physicians. Karen is the proud mother of three children, Collin, Morgan, and Benjamin who all attend school in the Lubbock-Cooper ISD.

Jana Brinkley, RDA

Jana is Dr. McLarty’s chair side assistant. She was born in Landsthul, Germany while her father was serving in the U.S. Army and later grew up in Shallowater, Texas. Jana graduated from Shallowater High School in 2003 and received her dental assisting training and certification through Texas Careers, School of Dental Assisting. Jana enjoys working in the dental field and has come to value the personal relationships she makes with patients and co-workers as one of the most rewarding aspects of her career. Outside of the office, Jana enjoys spending time with her close family and friends.

Jeanne Barbee

Jeanne, a Lubbock native with over 25 years experience in the dental field, is Dr. McLarty’s Office Manager and Financial Coordinator. Jeanne began her dental career in Medford, Oregon in the mid 1980s where she was encouraged to enter the field by her own personal dentist. Jeanne has been with Dr, McLarty since he associated with the practice in 2004. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the office and is able to provide you personal assistance in understanding and coordinating your dental insurance and treatment plans. Jeanne loves meeting new people, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Tanya Hambrick, RDH

Tanya grew up in Ft. Stockton, Texas. She received her degree in Dental Hygiene from Howard College, School of Dental Hygiene, Big Spring, TX, in 1999. Currently, she holds her dental hygiene license in both Texas and Oklahoma. Tanya enjoys getting to know her patients and developing great relationships with them. She prides herself as an attentive listener of their concerns, and excels in providing individualized care and oral hygiene coaching. Tanya is well known for the outstanding care she provides and will be more than willing to help you understand your personalized treatment needs. She actively participates in continuing education to stay current on the latest in dental and dental hygiene technology. Away from the office, Tanya enjoys her son, Blake, exercising, and spending time with her family.

My life is a special gift from an eternal God who loves me. I recognize among my many blessings, I have been given intelligence, strength, character and the ability to serve others.

I pledge to always look for opportunity given before me to make me a better man and share those improvements with others around me.

My time on this earth is precious. I will use my time to love my family, nourish my soul, and touch the lives of others in a kind and compassionate way.

I elect to forever strive for perfection, knowing fully that I cannot and will not ever achieve it.

My life will include adventure, risk and challenges that I will face head on and do my best to overcome without fear.

I will always ask, “Why not?” Never accepting the impossible, and will continue to dream every day of my life. Never will I forget that hard work, persistence, vision and love have made me the man I have become.
